Coming from tropical rainforest and growing up to hundreds of feet tall, you can count on rattan to not splinter or break because it is very sturdy. Because of this, rattan poles is widely used as couch frames or turned into spiraling designs for arm rests or back of furniture. If you want your wicker furniture to last a longer period of time, be sure to clean and coat it with protectant regularly. When vacuuming, be sure to follow the weave.
