Pilates A Different and Effective Exercise Regime

Over the last decade or so Pilates has spread around many parts of the world as a form of exercise that is not necessarily new, but which is a very effective way of toning the body and putting it in a condition where it is less prone to injury and better able to function in the day to day world.

Traditional workouts include weight training and aerobic workouts which are fine forms of exercise. They definitely have their place, but Pilates does too. Pilates makes one more limber and tends to align the various parts of the body so that they are working together and so there is harmony of movement. For an athlete it can put him in better touch with his body, make them more aware of it and better able to use it for the sport they are engaged in. That is why you now see a Pilates regime in many professional sports such as football, golf, baseball, basketball, etc.

It is also used by numerous professional actors. Instead of building bulk muscle it tends to build lean and strong muscles. And if you think a Pilates workout is for wimps, give it a try with a good teacher and you will soon find that you may be strong in some ways but this type of workout which gets deep into your core muscles and you may need to work up on a gradient so that you can do a full set of these exercises despite how strong you are or think you are. No disrespect intended.

Pilates can make you feel better, give you better posture, tone muscles, flatten bulging areas, strengthen backs and improve their condition, align joints and give you a feeling of strength, flexibility and well being.

If you are interested in finding out more about Pilates, one can look it up on the internet and find a studio in your area. It is recommended that you start with a qualified instructor who can properly teach you the basics and fundamentals as they are important to learn. If you are not doing it technically correct you will not be getting the full benefit and it is difficult to pick this up off of most instruction videos.

Whatever you do in life you may find that Pilates will assist you in making it easier to get around in your body and in doing those day to day things that for some can become painful or strenuous.
