We have something in common, as parents we will do anything we can to keep our children safe and out of harms way. There is nothing more important to me and I know you feel the same way

We were chatting while sorting out my post charges on some parcels the other day and the post lady told me what happened to her daughter on her first day of school, the week before. One of the teachers put her on the wrong bus and she was lost for 2 hours.

I asked if she was OK as I felt a cold chill throughout my body. Thankfully the answer was yes. The poor little girl had ridden around in the wrong school bus for over 2 hours while the bus driver completed there entire route.

I was as shocked as you are. Why didn't the bus driver call in that she had a little 4 year old riding on the bus? Why didn't she respond when called by the school? How could the teacher put her on the wrong bus when she had the correct details on her jacket? Where were the police to help?

The ending to the story is simple – she is now going to another school which does not require a bus trip and her mum drops her off and picks her up. She has changed her work to make sure that she can.

This story is a reminder about how we blindly trust teachers and child care workers without doing our own background check son these people. I have all to often read how it has been discovered that convicted criminals are working in schools as proper background checks were not carried out by schools or the child care centers.
