Turn Your RSS Feeds To Massive Traffic

By: Thomas Choo

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary or RDF (resource description framework) Site Summary. An Really Simple Syndication file is an XML file that contains short descriptions of Web content and links to the full versions of the content described.

It allows bloggers and Web site owners to syndicate their content by pushing Really Simple Syndication files out to voluntary subscribers.

On the subscriber's side, a program called a feed reader (or an aggregator) checks subscription Web pages periodically for new RSS files, called feeds. When it finds an updated feed, the reader displays the feeds content and alerts the subscriber.

There are client-side and Web-based feed readers. Client-side readers reside on the subscribers computer, either as stand-alone programs or plug-ins for browsers or email clients.

Web-based feed readers don't require any reader software on the subscribers PC. Rather, you can check your feeds from any browser-enabled computer simply by logging on to the feed readers site. People who adopt Really Simple Syndication are in it primarily for the information.

No one in particular would want to adopt Really Simple Syndication. The people who do are in it for the timely information they get in a controlled and organized way that helps them become better either at their work or their personal life.

So how exactly can Really Simple Syndication help in your website marketing? Well, here's how:

1. Enhance the visibility of your website and generate more traffic

Really Simple Syndication can be a value-added revolution in the marketing field. For many marketers and Internet publishers, Really Simple Syndication is one tool which can improve their online visibility and generate more visitors.

2. Improve your search engine rankings

Really Simple Syndication has been documented to bring a great impact on the traditional search engine rankings. Even sites supposedly with low traffic are pushed to first-page sites positions for their key search engine keywords and phrases after switching over to Really Simple Syndication feeds.

3. Increase the number of visitors through Really Simple Syndication search engines, directories and content aggregators

The tremendous volume of information and news available through Really Simple Syndication is very hard to ignore. Really Simple Syndication, can be said to be the exact opposite of the email push technology. Because you cannot to push away your message to subscribers.

In fact, the only way that people can subscribe to an Really Simple Syndication feed is to do so voluntarily. And, at the same time, they can unsubscribe whenever they want.

That's why it's called a "pull" technology. Because subscribers pull information into their readers and, if the content isn't what they expect, they can unsubscribe whenever they like. So, unlike the email push technology, there is no one using Really Simple Syndication that is experiencing an inbox full of spam.

All they have to do is to unsubscribe and they will never receive another message from the person who provided the feed. RSS has become a popular way to make money online too. And that is due in part to the popularity of the RSS pull technology. Turning to RSS for massive traffic is one way of monetizing a website using RSS feeds.
